We Fly LDN

On Tuesday evening, around 50 women and girls invited by Nike Women arrived at a North London car park ready to run. What happened next? Well, they flew.

As each guest arrived on the rooftop of Wood Green's shopping centre car park, they laced up their new Pegasus 35 trainers fresh out the box, changed into their We Fly LDN running top and started to mingle, discussing what they thought might be awaiting them over the next two hours.

As the runners drifted in over the next 45 minutes, we filled the time pressing patches onto our t-shirts, getting our hair braided and taking selfies to the golden backdrop of Alexandra Palace. At 7pm, coach Cory of Track Mafia introduced the special guests – Julie Adenuga, Leah Williamson and Jordan Nobbs. Not bad running partners for the evening.

The workout was a two-parter: the first half an hour on the next floor under, warming-up and moving through running games and group drills. The second half an hour was spent running laps in small teams over the top floor, consisting of an uphill and a downhill. The main takeaway? Not a specific exercise or speed tip, but the power of running in a group. No runner left behind. And I've gotta say, I've not felt energy like that when heading out for a run for a long time.

Post-run, we were treated to delicious vegan Jamaican food by Dee's Table and snow cones for prime post-workout rehydration. An ultimate running evening, shared. So, who wants to be my running buddy?
